FAQS
Q
The basic components of color masterbatch are
A
1. Pigments or dyes Pigments are further divided into organic pigments and inorganic pigments Commonly used organic pigments include: phthalocyanine red, phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, lightfast scarlet, macromolecular red, macromolecular yellow, permanent yellow, permanent violet, azo red, etc. Common inorganic pigments include: cadmium red, cadmium yellow, titanium dioxide, carbon black, iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, etc.
2. Carrier The base material of color masterbatches. Specialized color masterbatches typically use the same resin as the finished product as the carrier, ensuring the best compatibility between the two. However, the carrier's flowability must also be considered.
3. Dispersants Promote uniform dispersion of pigments and prevent re-agglomeration. The melting point of dispersants should be lower than that of the resin, with good compatibility with the resin and strong affinity for the pigments. The most commonly used dispersants are: low-molecular-weight polyethylene wax, stearate salts.
4. Additives Such as flame retardants, brighteners, antibacterial agents, anti-static agents, and antioxidants. Unless specifically requested by the customer, these additives are generally not included in color masterbatches.
Q
What are the different types and grades of color masterbatches?
A
Color masterbatches are commonly classified into the following categories:
1. By carrier: PE color masterbatches, ABS color masterbatches, PVC color masterbatches, EVA color masterbatches, etc.
2. By application: such as injection molding and extrusion color masterbatches, blow molding and film blowing color masterbatches, spinning color masterbatches, etc.
Each type can be further divided into different grades, such as:
1. High-grade injection molding and extrusion color masterbatches: commonly used for packaging boxes, toys, appliance housings, and other high-grade environmentally friendly products.
2. Standard injection molding and extrusion color masterbatches: commonly used for general daily necessities, industrial containers, etc.
3. High-grade blow molding color masterbatches: used for ultra-thin products, food-grade packaging bags, and blow molding coloring.
4. Standard blow molding color masterbatches: used for general packaging bags and woven bags in blow molding coloring.
5. Spinning masterbatch: Used for coloring textile fibers.
6. Low-grade masterbatch: Used for manufacturing low-grade products with low color quality requirements, such as trash cans and low-grade containers.
7. Special-purpose masterbatch: Masterbatch manufactured using the same carrier material as the plastic type specified by the user for the product.
8. General-purpose color masterbatch: General-purpose color masterbatch is relatively convenient but has more drawbacks. Our technical staff recommends that users select specialized color masterbatch.
Analysis: The heat resistance grade of specialized color masterbatch is generally suitable for plastic products, and it can be used safely under normal temperatures. However, it may cause varying degrees of discoloration under the following conditions:
1. Temperature exceeds normal levels.
2. Extended downtime.
Note: The above is an analysis and response to questions from peer companies by the professional technical staff of Dongguan Jushuhengda Chemical Co., Ltd. - Dongwei Jin Plastic (Color Masterbatch) Products Factory. It is not intended as a comprehensive solution. Specific solutions should be determined based on actual production processes and material selection. We welcome inquiries from peer companies via phone or in person. The consultation hotline is available 24 hours a day.
Q
What are the advantages of color masterbatches and pigments?
A
Advantages of color masterbatch: Environmentally friendly, non-toxic, odorless, and smoke-free, the products produced have a smooth and lustrous surface. The solid colors are stable and do not exhibit poor dispersion phenomena such as color spots, stains, or streaks, unlike other pigments. This not only reduces costs but also minimizes degradation of plastic caused by repeated heating, thereby preserving the inherent properties of the plastic. It also reduces the need for additional additives, decreases environmental pollution in the factory, and effectively meets national environmental protection standards.
